Heaven, Where Everything is Different

Revelation 21:4-6
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
~ In Sweet Memory ~
I wrote this devotional on heaven before I heard that my dear friend and co-laborer in Christ, Bro. Ramon Ortiz, had slipped into eternity. I thank God for the friendship we shared and for the joy he showed in knowing Christ. I dedicate this devotional to my wonderful friend who loved the Lord and was not ashamed to share the Gospel of Christ with the young people of Mexico, whom he loved so dearly. 2 Corinthians 5:8 ~ We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Scripture refers to heaven more than 500 times and in the book of Revelation, it is mentioned about 50 times. Christians have a never ending fascination with this place called “Heaven,” because most have loved ones that are already there. We read that heaven is where the Lamb of God dwells and is now seated at the right hand throne of God. Around His throne, is a rainbow, emerald in appearance, revealing the splendor and glory of God.

We are told that life in heaven will be dramatically different from anything we have ever known here on earth. What a change there will be when....God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Isaiah 25:8 ~ He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. Revelation 7:17 ~ For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Perfect holiness and the absence of sin will characterize this wonderful place called “Heaven,” where there will be no more pain, suffering, or disease. The greatest curse of human existence will be no more–––for there will be no more death ....Death is swallowed up in victory....thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 15:54b, 57).

The sweetest song of heaven will praise the only One who is worthy to be praised saying, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing (Revelation 5:12.) Endless worship belongs to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ as all of creation will sing and give praise for the joy of a perfect redemption by a perfect Redeemer. Psalms 150:6 ~ Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

What will it be like to live in God’s glorious presence in this wonderful place? Together we will forever enjoy the fellowship of Him who died for us and we will see God as He is in all of His glory. 1 John 3:2 ~ Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. We will with overwhelming gratitude and abounding love serve our God in the light of His dear Son And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever (Revelation 22:5).

When We All Get to Heaven
by Eliza E. Hewitt

 Let us then be true and faithful,
trusting, serving every day;
just one glimpse of Him in glory
will the toils of life repay.

When we all get to heaven,
what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
we'll sing and shout the victory!

Thought: The glorious and comforting truth about heaven is that those who humble themselves and accept God’s offer of salvation will spend eternity there with Him, the Lord of glory. The last words of the Bible in Revelation 22:21 read; The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. What a gracious expression of love towards fallen man in saying,  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, meaning: the joy and pleasure which influences your heart, be with you all. Amen. My prayer for you dear friend, is that you trust the One who can forgive your sin and in His presence is fulness of joy; where at His right hand there are pleasures for evermore (Psalm 16:11b).
