Giving Thanks Always

Giving Thanks Always
Ephesians 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

The giving of thanks is a good thing and is to be a part of our daily walk with Christ. We are sometimes guilty in failing to thank God for all the things He has done for us. It seems so simple to set a little time aside every day and just thank Him, but we forget.  We don't forget to ask Him for things we need, we only forget to thank Him for all that He has already done.

It is important to keep God first in our lives and first in the giving of thanks for all things. The believer’s relationship to God is so critical and the Apostle Paul is exceptional in reminding Christians to be thankful to God for all things. (I Thessalonians 5:18) We are to be thankful for our salvation and the work that Christ has already begun in and through us. (Philippians 1:6)

Scripture teaches us that the angels spend time thanking God around the throne and will do so for ever and ever. (Revelation 4:9) If the angels are thankful to God for who He is, should we be any less thankful? His great love, immense mercy, and matchless grace shown to us deserves an attitude of praise and thankfulness. Our Lord spent time thanking God for the things He had done so often. There are many illustrations of our Lord giving thanks in the Bible some publicly as well as privately. Christ’s life was a perfect picture of true thankfulness to God for who He was and what He had done. He thanked God openly and with great passion.

If you are a Christian, you have much to be thankful to God for, most importantly; that you know the King of Kings, and will spend eternity with Him.

Lord, I am thankful for Your love and for opening my eyes to see how selfishness and  ungrateful I have been.
