Satan, Our Enemy
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience...
You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
When attempting to work with women in addiction, one can see how hard Satan works to deceive, destroy and kill those that have been captured by his lies. My heart was moved as I entered a courtroom a while ago to see twenty to thirty men and women restrained by chains around their wrists and ankles. As they shuffled across the crowded room to their seats, their faces were unresponsive. They were then ordered not to have eye contact with anyone seated in the courtroom. While listening to the charges brought against them and then having the question posed, “How do you plea?” the answer, “guilty” was quite overwhelming!
What a picture of the ugly chains of sin mankind has been shackled with throughout human history. A man has no hope without believing in the truth of the gospel; that Jesus did for them what they could never do for themselves. Satan has bound them with his lies and will utterly destroy them unless they believe in Christ and trust Him by faith (John 3:36).
If you are struggling with the chains of sin my friend, trust Christ today. Repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in what Jesus did for you on the cross. The gospel of Christ is the truth that will set you free from the bondage of sin, and He is the only One who can promise eternal life to all who believe. (John 6:47) “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.”
Lord, I put my faith and trust in You.
